How to reserve



Welcome to High Shoals Cabins. We offer comfortable cabins and camping
on the Ouachita River, Lake area, and in Mount Ida.
Come experience the best of Arkansas, "The Natural State."


Cabins 1-3 are located on the Ouachita River and surrounded by the Ouachita National Forest.
It is a six and a half mile county road (dirt/gravel) drive from Mount Ida, Arkansas,
"Quartz Crystal Capital of the World."
Cabins 1-3 have a rustic appearance but modern amenities.

Cabin 4 is located eight and a half miles east of Mount Ida off of Highway 270
with nearby access to Lake Ouachita and the Lake Ouachita Vista Trail.
It is two miles from the Twin Creek Recreation area which has a boat launch, picnic tables,
swimming area, and a scenic viewing deck.
Cabin 4 is thirty minutes from Hot Springs for those going to Oaklawn, the bath houses,
shopping, or just like being closer to the city life.


The Cottage is a historic house in the heart of Mount Ida, a few blocks from the town square,
where the Front Porch music is held.
Perfect for those attending the Good Ole' Days festival, and the Quartz Quilts and Crafts event.


If you want to get away to enjoy fishing, canoeing, hiking, biking, hunting, mining for crystals or just to relax,
we offer facilities to make your visit a pleasure.


Hiking and Biking

The Womble trail is excellent for hiking and mountain biking.
Womble trail has "Epic" status by the International Mountain Biking Association.
It is 37 miles long and features great views of the river and mountains.
High Shoals Cabins 1-3 is located three miles North of the Womble trail and County Rd. 59 (High Shoals Rd.) intersection.

Cabin 4 is a couple miles from the Lake Ouachita Vista Trail which goes along the South part of the lake
and is also a IMBA epic trail.

The Ouachita National Forest has hiking, biking, horse, and ATV trails
for participants of every level of experience.

Fishing

There are many varieties of fish for the angler in Ouachita river and lake.
Depending on the season there are catfish, large mouth bass, small mouth bass, spotted bass,
white bass, panfish, stripers, and walleye. While the Ouachita river
and lake are the closest, Caddo Lake and Lake Hamilton are also close by.


Hunting

Hunting is available on the surrounding Ouachita national forest and
public land in designated areas. Check the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission
for hunting seasons and information.


Also

In the summer enjoy free Saturday night music in Mount Ida at the Front Porch, by the county courthouse.
If quartz crystals are your interest there are numerous crystal mines
and rock shops in the area.
